January - Here's what's on the easel.
My ornament was chosen with many other SDP entries for the Christmas tree at the Smithsonian. The challenge was to pick from an array of art pieces and paint it as a 4 x 6 inch ornament. I picked William Morris Hunt's picture of Elizabeth Claflin. I painted it as if it was in a silver frame with pearls. You can see it on the tree, extreme right halfway down.

This is a work in progress from Mary Gibilisco's online class. I changed it somewhat to fit my canvas and am still working on form and values. I am going to put filler berries in the vase and fix the red tulip. I need to darken the background more and get my grapes to not be so all the same value.	This was painted free hand from a set up.
